CRIMINAL CASE#1: FROG BOYS

The frog boys is the case of missing 5 children in mount waryeong to find egg salamander.

This is the chronology of events.

26 march 1991. Daegu, South Korea.

This day is general election day. All activities are closed including the school. And usually in Korea, elections were held at school. 

U cheol won (13), Jo ho yeon (12), Kim yeong gyu (11), Park chan in (10), Kim jong sik (9), and kim tae ryeong are children who attend elementary school in seongso. They gather near Jo Ho Yeon's house in the morning. One who rented at Jo Ho Yeon's house reprimanded them for being too noisy. They finally decided to play in Mount Waryeong collecting salamander eggs. Kim Tae Ryeong, who had not yet had breakfast, decided not to go with them. And also his mother reminded him to play not too far away. So the five children went to the mountain without him. He only saw his friends go away to the mountain with walking sticks, and empty cans to store salamander eggs. 

11.30 noon

A boy named ham seung hun went with his friend to waryoung mountain to find a salamander. However, ham seung hun separated from his friend to go to the cemetery. Arriving there, he heard two screams a distance of 10 seconds.

18:00 evening

Parents begin to worry about their child's whereabouts, eventually they look for it in the mountains. But there is no sign or trace of their existence.

19:50

The loss report has been made by the police. Because today is election day. So the police did not take this case seriously. The police think the children are just lost in the mount. So, with the help of the police and the people around them, they searched for the 5 children on the mountain until 3am. And there are no results.

After reportedly disappeared this case out being trending topics, national news. Until it was heard by the president. 

The president of South Korea, Roh Tae Woo, ordered 300,000 police personnel to look for the whereabouts of the missing child. TV media also continue to preach this. Because many of the Korea people did not know the salamander, the news was changed by frogs. And this case is also known as a frog boys.

Seungso Elementary School also conducted a search campaign. Photos of frog boys are displayed on every product and milk packaging.
A generous donation of up to 42 million won (US $ 35,000 at that time) was a gift to anyone who could find the 5 children. Some of their parents also had to be willing to leave their jobs to travel all over the country looking for their children.

1992

Many people still think that the five children left the house because of family disputes. To persuade them to go home, a movie called come home, frog boys, was shown.

2001

A search is still underway, but police have not been able to find any clues. They only got fake reports 550 times.

2002

A woman went to the mountain to look for oaks, but she noticed something strange. And because it was rather scary, she finally called the police. 

And after being examined by the police, found a skeleton of a bone belonging to a frog boys.

If you look at the condition of the mountain in 1991 before it was fixed, the location where the body was found was behind the mountain.

Why do kids go that far just to look for salamanders? 

At the beginning of the examination the police said they died of hypothermia. But many people do not accept. Because when they are found, their clothes are tied. 

And then in the forensic results, it was found that children died because they were killed. And there is something strange about this bone frame when it is matched. U cheol woon's skull has two holes. One looks like it's made of sharp objects. Kim Jong Shik's skull was also found in a slightly strange condition. Above the right eye there are cracks. Not only that, his right bone also broke. And many experts say this is not a falling wound, but like holding one's punch.

On Kim Yeong Gyu's skull, he was hit by a fist. Not only that, his clothes were pulled and there were visible tears on the seams and buttons. While the other 2 corpses, Park Chan in and Jo Ho Hyeon look pretty normal.

Here there are 3 important things said by profilers. First, it's possible that these 5 kids with one person don't know each other. Secondly, it looks like the killer is quite familiar with the area here and possibly the people here. Third, there is no specific reason for killing.
